It’s not always easy to be vegan in Mexico, but despite being a small town, Sayulita has an increasing range of vegan options. In most of the taco places on the street you can get the vegan mushroom option, but if you’re looking for some variety or want to try the famous “taco al pastor” while being vegan, we highly recommend you to check these top 3 vegan places in Sayulita:
Naty’s Cocina
Marlín 13 | 8:30 – 4:00 pm
Naty’s Cocina, also known as Naty’s Kitchen, is one of the most famous taco places in Sayulita for locals and tourists. It’s located between the plaza and the main beach and you’ll often see a line of people waiting in front of it. Especially around lunch time, it can get really busy, but it is well worth the wait – their tacos inspired by family recipes are delicious. The vegan options are potatoes, pumpkin or green beans and mushrooms, and they put either rice or beans on every taco. The taste is really authentic and their staff is super friendly. Unfortunately they close at 4pm, we wish we could go there for some late night tacos as well!

Surf & Tacos
Av. Revolución, next to Aaleyah’s | 5pm – 1am | @surfandtacossayulita
This place is a hidden gem. They have vegan pastos al tacor and a few other vegan options. The hibiscus flower taco is especially tasty and on top of that healthy as it fights inflammation and is packed with antioxidants. They even offer vegan cheese as an add-on to your tacos! As this place is not well known (yet!), you’ll always find a table to sit inside and the service is really fast. You find them in Av. Revolución, you can’t miss them when you’re walking towards My Sister’s House from the center of town. They also offer different fresh lemonades everyday, if you don’t like them that sweet you can just order them without sugar. You can also rent surfboards there, your tacos will be even more tasty after going for a surf!

Want to try some vegan tacos that exactly look and taste like the traditional Mexican meat options? Pay a visit to the vegan tacos stand at the farmers market! You’ll find them on the left side next to the place where the band plays. They offer three different types of vegan tacos (chorizo with potatoes, pastor & machaca) but also quesadillas, burritos, volcanos and burgers, all vegan, all with the option of vegan cheese! Unfortunately the market only opens on fridays and only during high season (October-April). We definitely think they should put up a permanent taco place in Sayulita!
